Xehanort is an original character created for the Kingdom Hearts series. Though he was only featured briefly in Kingdom Hearts II via a flashback, Xehanort was a student under Ansem the Wise, and had no memory of his life prior to his appearance at the Radiant Garden. While researching the heart and the darkness within it, he becomes increasingly obsessed with his studies. He sacrifices his body in the process, creating his Heartless and Nobody. His Heartless assumes the identity of his teacher, Ansem, while his Nobody takes the name Xemnas. Xehanort's Heartless is featured in Kingdom Hearts as the main antagonist and in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories as an entity inside Riku.
